Description: February 1997, it could be 10 years to-day for all i know, a party in a squat in Haarlem, a Dutch town some 20 km west of Amsterdam. the police came in just before the party begun. it was not a conflict situation, they were driving by, have seen a large crowd gathering around what would be a deserted property, and came in to check what was going on. once they were satisfied it was just a party, a benign gathering of people, and that the place was reasonably safe with respect to fire and such, they left and didn't come back anymore. the squat was a stand-alone building at the outskirts of town, hence no problems with neighbours neither. the party went on, well, i left for Amsterdam around 5 AM, and it was still in full swing... |
