KingHeathen ::: Favorites well, I wish you 24 happy belated birthdays! And another when it rolls around again! 07-06-15 13:18:05 __________________________________________________
DblOSmith ::: Favorites It was tough. Purposely ostracizing myself knowing I'd be made fun of. Interestingly enough, I have a loving partner now whose family I've shared my first real Christmas and birthday with. What have I been missing all these years!? 07-06-14 21:26:56 __________________________________________________
KingHeathen ::: Favorites I remember thinking "THIS SUCKS!" Why would they have some random party but won't have one for HIS BIRTHDAY!? I could tell he felt left out everytime I had a party and he couldn't come. 07-06-14 19:26:17 __________________________________________________
KingHeathen ::: Favorites the thing that I never got about JW's was the birthday bit...I had a great friend as a young child that lived just down the street from us and his family were JW's. When he was having a birthday, I asked his mom if I could come to his party. She said, "We don't celebrate birthdays" (and went into some detail about why) "We might have a party just to have fun, but not for a birthday" 07-06-14 19:21:24 __________________________________________________
DblOSmith ::: Favorites He said "Elders"? JW community on of the few communities that use "Elders" as officials of the religion that'd talk to you. I think heathen did well, but whoever this is, I agree with you. I remember when I slipped and said I was going to a haunted house for halloween, and my mother sad me down like a 2 year old and made me read scriptures and pray because Halloween was evil. Any agnosticism I had at that time went out the window at that moment. "Godspeed" lad. 07-06-14 18:35:39 __________________________________________________
KingHeathen ::: Favorites sucks that you had to go that far to get the point across. And it sucks even more that your mom would threaten you to try and keep you "in the fold". What sucks the MOST is that I keep hearing more and more stories like this and it appears to be a bigger problem than most realize. 07-06-10 23:15:29 __________________________________________________
handscandy ::: Favorites When I first told my mother that I had questions about the church's doctrine she told me that if I stopped going to church she would send me to military school, so I continued going. After my eventual nervous breakdown and many psychiatrist visits later my mother is more open to my freedoms as far as religion is concerned. Sometimes things have to happen the hard way. 07-06-10 23:11:57 __________________________________________________
MistressMoonlight ::: Favorites I agree with your advice. 07-04-25 20:41:07 __________________________________________________
smsavage32 ::: Favorites The infidel guy used that in the open remarks of a speech he made at a church. 07-04-25 18:21:17 __________________________________________________
dragon2wolf ::: Favorites Good luck with it. I've never taken it. SOmehow I lucked out and never had to. Go me! :) 07-04-25 15:09:16 __________________________________________________ |
