I meant....uh...increasing limits. The fatality rate on the Autobahn is lower than here for reasons; people know how to drive better. And it may be higher than it SHOULD be because apparently many out of country drivers speed down it less than responsibly.

That's exactly what a nanny state is, legislating safety because a few morons can't drive properly.
First, there's no evidence that putting limits in most cases would raise accident rates. There are many factors in this. Second, I...DO...NOT...CARE. If you are a moron, get off the highway. Statistics do not matter. Do something without violating peoples' rights about the problem, like making driver's licenses harder to obtain.

Even if they kept the left lane clear for passing can you imagine the fighting behind them to get to that left lane? Also, just because the law says they should not be driving slower in the left lane how often is that actually enforced? I see it all the time, some moron doing 55 in the left lane or the HOV lane.
I'm also wondering why there were no police around. Maybe they didn't know how to respond. Maybe they were busy solving crimes....YEAH RIGHT!

Here's a question; why are cars even sold in the US that are capable of going over 70 mph? The government absolutely could require it if they really wanted to ensure our safety. They mandated seat belts and catalytic converters...

I know a way to reduce traffic fatalities 100%. Just reduce the speed limit to zero. All hail the nanny state!
If you want to drive slowly, stay in the right lane and drive slowly, or better yet stay off the highway. I am 35 years old with perfect vision and excellent reflexes. I should have the same limit as a 75 year old lady with failing vision that can't rotate her head more than 3 degrees in any direction and wouldn't be driving if it wasn't for the lobbyists from the AARP?
