Description: Nearly 400 people came to Sunset Stadium in Sumner, Wash. for the Tacoma Walk Now for Autism, to raise $42,580. The day was cool, but luckily, the rain held off. Bill Kruger, former major league baseball player and current baseball analyst for Fox Sports and local radio, kicked off the event with an inspirational talk. Sumner Mayor Dave Enslo welcomed the walkers, and Seattle American Idol contestant Jonathan Jayne, who has autism, sent off the walkers with a patriotic song. Walk chairperson and emcee Mark Barlet led the Sumner cheerleaders and participants through the local neighborhood for a scenic 5k walk in the shadow of Mt. Rainier. Visit the Tacoma Walk Now for Autism site here. Participate in the Seattle Walk Now for Autism, which will take place on Saturday, October 13th, at 9:00 a.m. at Dempsey Indoor Arena on the U.W. campus. |
